seem to have gone astray 1 ac I thought was zebedee but can't figure out why 14 ac 16 ac not really much to go on

clues would help for those of us that don't have the crossword

ZEBEDEE is correct

14 Across is ATTENTION SPAN
Sounds like a tension (=strain) and cross = span

16 Across is HANDBARROW
Offer is HAND
Rail is BAR
Line is ROW

1 A. Last Letter from America about historian and disciples' father (7).

14 A. A strain to hear? Cross? Time to concentrate (9,4)
16 A. Offer rail line as means of transport.

Def. enthusiasm : Zeal ?

I think Z= some value, then add the odd letters in dEtAiL.
