Most of you seem unfamiliar with the Listener Crossword and its traditions. One such is the keeping of statistics about every entry that's submitted, described at
http://www.listenercrossword.com/List_Statistics.html. Also, apart from the weekly prizes, there are annual awards for the most successful solver.
While it's heartening to see the crossword reaching a new audience, please be aware that by discussing and revealing answers on a public website before the closing date for competition entries, you are making them available to people who would use them to complete a puzzle otherwise beyond their faculties. The evidence for this effect, resulting from discussions on the AnswerBank site (where the prevailing culture has now developed to giving hints only, not answers), can be seen in the percentage of solvers who were all-correct for the year, which has risen by an average of 70% per year from 2004 to 2008.
