I've never done this crossword but the thought occurred to me that the answer could be weld - wed [married] containing 'l' [little] but I can't find a synonym for weld based on the four-letter first part of the clue...

Married = WED
Little support = s
= WEDS but I can't link it to the misprinted clue.
