Hello you clever lot. I'm catching up after pitching a one third completed RT33 into the corner in disgust.
I found this one a lot easier except 1D which I cheated by going to quicksolve. and in spite of all the hints, 16A Novelist about to leave with trainer. A further hint????
As for that river animal, my default one was Otter until I tried fitting in the old song. Hello, RT35 has just arrived.

Like you dandybandy, I am just finishing 34 and 35 has dropped through the letterbox.

I wouldn't have got the River animal in 19d if someone hadn't posted it was a Cornish River - never heard of that river.
Crossword now complete.
16a is a novellist and you are taking the letter C off C=about. The novelist's first name is Raymond. You are then left with a word that can mean trainer.
Hope that helps you dandybandy

Doh! Double doh! Thanks lilacwine. I was being really thick. I had that author and was leaving the C in and taking the H off! I just didn't see it. What wood? Those trees are in the way.
Well I've got the lobster month in 35 but I'm saving the rest for later.

Hello dandybandy
I am just about to start RT35.
Please don't give up on RT33. Just ask away and someone will be sure to help . There are already a few hints on the thread below. Just add any further questions to that. Have a good day all.

Thanks Jazzgirl. I'll have another go. Watch for my desperate calls for help thro' the thickets of kiosked ads. I HATE cookies. Right now the greenhouse extension awaits (as it has been for the last six months). I put a roof on and the side walls must go on before the autumn sets in.
