Finally got it, but can't quite rationalize 2 answers.

Under its fourth reference for "chop" Chambers gives "no chop" as "no good"

... and for subito = again Chambers - the second reference for "ou" is an African term for "man", and - alas - one of the meanings of "bit" is given as a girl or woman.
