Last Clue is C - For which referee's essential element in family row? (5,5)

I have C_E_N _I_A_

The last A is iffy - I can't parse it other than by reference to K...

If the letter A is wrong, then I have one phrase which will fit but I cannot work it back to the clue... And then I have no idea what the A clue is on about...

Help please

Ok I now have the A and C clues I think.

I have an answer for K but can someone explain it to me - I was going by reference to a cricketer based on my wrong A but obviously that is not the route....

If you've now got A right (and it is another sportsman), you should be able to treat the middle part of the K clue as an instruction to apply to it. The first word of the clue is the definition. Sorry if I'm being obscure but I don't like spoilers.

Late I know but my excuse is I've been out. I am stuck on b, c, e and the long s one down. For that I have s-n-e the year d-- (and now I've written it our I've realised what that is, so ignore that!). For C I have c-e-n -i-h- And now I've realised what that is too, which leaves just b and e. BL-e (presumably blue) _a__, and Es_r___t. Incidentally, the z clue was in the paper, so you lot must all be on line. Thanks for any help at this late stage and I agree it was good to have an alphabetical again.

Just picked this up today. Think "spoons" for the E clue.

I too am stuck on the B - last one. The hint about Mugabe didn't help me!
