Does anyone have any idea how long it's likely to before a new edition appears? I am thinking of investing in a new one, but want to avoid buying at the wrong time & regretting it --- I could wait a bit!

Whatever you do, GK, don't buy the current edition which is the 13th!
This is the one that I have , and Chambers admitted some time ago that they missed out 500 words from it by accident!
All they have done to remedy their omission is to offer a printout online of said 500 words!
I've had correspondence galore with them to no avail.

Thank you, elle, for your advice. I have that printout anyway. On the other hand I don't want to wait all too long for the 14th Edition as my 11th is in a very awkward condition after falling several times from my desk! Anyone else familiar with the publishers' "rhythm"?

I've tried to find out from Chambers when they are producing a new version, but they don't answer my correspondence! I've had a promise from Amazon to exchange my current volume when a new one comes out, so if you find out before I do, please post the info up on here?
Thanks, GK

Btw the q is complicated by the fact that I live abroad, so postage wd be expensive; in addition I presume amazon doesn't accept the book token I have won ("National"); I am most likely to buy it this September in a UK bookstore, but just wondered if a new edition is due maybe next year, in which case I would prefer to wait.

GK, Amazon are not members of the BA so cannot accept National tokens.
As regards postage, Amazon appears to have only one rate. £2.80 for post and packing.
I have had several orders from USA booksellers and the cost is always £2.80.

Thanx 4 the link, rusty --- tho' I'm still no further with my original q as to how long the waiting period is brtween editions. Surely a new one must be due relatively soon, not least because of the chaos with the last faulty one?
To go by the dates of the last 3 editions, the next should appear in 2016 --- and my book token is valid for 2 years. Any other opinions?

Amazon's shipping works the same way in the US. I regularly buy books from the UK and the shipping fee is $3.99, as it is within our borders.
