Re Salmon fishing - I heard a story of a London city-type who was invited to go fishing in Scotland. He was worried about the midges (as we all are), so went into a pharmacist and explained the problem. The pharmacist sold him a gooey white ball.
On his first day out, he smeared the goo all over himself and started to fish. He was bitten to death!
On returning to London, he went back to the shop to complain. The pharmacist said "Didn't you read the instructions? You were supposed to hang the ball in a nearby tree to attract the midges away from you!"

Hi, Rusty!
Holland seems to be a great attraction........
My daughter and family are also going on holiday there at the
beginning of next month!
They are going to the same place they visited last year.
I guess we shall be cat visiting then as well!
How come only Miss O is to be in charge of you?
Is Miss L-B also going to Holland with her mum and dad?
At least you are getting trips to the Pine Cone whilst "under supervision"!
How much longer does Miss O have on school holiday?
I think my cousin's grandson goes back to school mid-August?

Hello, Chris!
What a horrifying tale!
We are having problems here from mosquito bites at the moment ...not only in the garden, but they come indoors during the night......

Hello, Elle!
Miss La Bamba comes home tomorrow and I think she is back at work on Monday.
So, Miss O is in charge, but you have me wondering when she goes back to school?
I'll try and remember to ask her tomorrow.
She and her Gran and her niece were at a safari park today.
They are all going to New York in October, so goodness knows who will be in charge of me then!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I hadn't realised that Miss L-B was away.......if you had mentioned it, then I had forgotten!
I think my brain is turning to mush........(we'll blame the heat....)
Maybe Miss ATW - whom you haven't mentioned for a while? - will keep an eye on you in October, whilst her cousins are on holiday in New York?
( Btw, who is looking after the dog and cat whilst your elder son is in London?)
We have elder daughter and the boys coming here for part of their school holidays, but not until mid -August.
And I have promised BB that he can have several sleepovers, when he returns from Holland!
And our granddaughter and extra grandson are wanting to visit!
I shall be busy!!

Hello, Elle!
I think my grandson would be ideal to be in charge of me in October.
Miss ATW is often "busy", so I leave her alone.
I did not ask who is looking after the cat and dog while they are at London.
Not really my business.
Yes, your young ones will keep you on your toes!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
Yet another hot and muggy day here!
Our promised thunderstorms and continuing rain came to naught!
They were supposed to start at 1am today and run through until 2am Saturday morning!
There is nary a cloud in the (very blue) sky at the moment.......so I am not holding my breath......
I envy my daughter with her sea breezes in Clacton!
What is it like up your way?
Apart from the garden......I am now in to stay for the rest of the day!
I hope you and Miss O enjoy your tip to the Pine Cone!

Good morning, Elle!
A cracker of a day here!
Blue sky and a gentle sea breeze.
Thunder storms maybe in the evening.
I am going out with Miss O soon.
Looking forward to seeing her!
Then home for the day.
Last day in the mountains for Le Tour.
Can G survive the attacks?
I hope so.
The Welsh cakes appear to have given him wings!

Hi, Rusty!
I envy you...….
What I wouldn't give for a gentle breeze........or even better, a howling gale!
There is no stirring of air here at all!
How was your outing to the Pine Cone?
I have more -or -less "romped" through today's crossword !
A ridiculously easy contrast to yesterday's puzzle!
My favourites were 11a: decade; 4d: traversed; and 20a: charisma.
And I have even parsed every clue!
Well almost.......I wasn't sure about 8d: ruminant......
Is this just a double definition here?
I have had no report from the 'wedding party' yet - I am expecting photos from the beach today!

Hello, Elle!
Just home from Pine Cone!
We had a nice time and a blether with the waitresses.
I took a Mackies ice cream home with me.
You are away ahead of me, Elle, I have not looked at my puzzle yet.
I am enjoying Le Tour just now, and the golf.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you had a good outing!
Speaking of Mackies' ice cream........I have just had a bowl of blueberries and vanilla ice cream for my lunch!
I am being very lazy now...
I was up by 5.15 am., as the day was already so hot.......and all the chores were done long before I went out for my walk with the dog at 8 am.
Hence the early start (and finish) to the crossword!
We are still having some technical problems with both the computer.......and now the television.......
I think these must be down to the heat...as I am not alone in this....
A few folk in the park this morning were complaining of similar problems, so I doubt it is something specific to our own appliances.
I guess we just sit it out......
I hope the golf and the cycling go well......
I am catching up with some correspondence ......
