Hello, Elle!
Great weather here!
Most of my tasks complete.
Took a bag to the cobbler for repair. Miss La Bamba's.
Dr Muir is attempting a British record at the Muller Games, too.
Not sure where they are held, but it is in July.
Now, the "lad from Bury" has blown a gasket.
He could not respond to attacks from Froome and Dumoulin and is many minutes behind them.
The stage is not finished yet, but his Giro has gone.
A three week tour is very tough.
Lot of deep snow high up in the mountains too.
Very scenic!

Hi, Rusty!
We have a very nice cobbler here who also does bag repairs!
He sewed back the strap of my leather shoulder bag very nicely, and at a minimal cost.
The Muller Anniversary Games are to be held down here at the London Stadium.
I was looking at the price of tickets..... but, actually, from our experience of attending the Para Athletics, it is not easy to view directly from the stands.
One relies largely on the giant television screens that are around.
So, apart from enjoying the atmosphere of being there "in the flesh".......it is in a way more satisfactory to watch at home on the television!
I'm sorry that Simon "flopped"....he was going great guns!
I have been talking to my (younger) daughter on the phone for about forty minutes. She calls me up on her way home from work, and we talk until she loses reception on the last leg of her train journey.
We are looking forward to seeing them all over the weekend.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, sorry, BGT is on Saturday, too.
Will be the last heat.
What Anniversary is the Muller Games celebrating?
It may well be on TV?
It looks like Froome will win the Giro, unless Dumoulin does something extraordinary in the mountains tomorrow, (and that can happen!).
Poor Simon Yates, he rode a great Giro up until today.
It is not easy to win a Grand Tour!

Hi, Rusty!
I think the London Athletics Grand Prix became known as the Anniversary Games in 2013, as it took place exactly one year after the Olympic Games were held at the same site, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Previously, until then , those particular Athletics events were held at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
A venue very much nearer to us , of course.
I remember watching Seb Coe there!
I've just taken on board that Simon's surname is "Yates"...doesn't he have a brother?
Adam?
Why would I know that?

Hello, Elle!
I understand the Anniversary Games now.
Simon has a twin brother called Adam.
Adam is a pro cyclist too, and rides for the same team as Simon.
I am not sure if that is why you would know of him though?
I am getting taken out for a bacon roll tomorrow.
Aren't granddaughters wonderful!

Hi, Rusty!
Maybe you mentioned the brothers before in another context...perhaps a different cycle race sometime back...without involving the "Bury" connection - and the names of the "Yates brothers" stuck in my head?
Possibly when you were explaining to me how the Le Tour race system worked...... and the different coloured jerseys worn etc?
Yes, definitely good to be taken out for a bacon roll by the girls tomorrow!
I only have one granddaughter...and five grandsons!

Hello, Elle!
I do not remember speaking about the brothers before, but it is possible.
I wonder what tomorrow's stage will bring?
Today, Froome rode like the great riders of the past.
Merckx, Anquetil, and Coppi.
He was magnificent.
He attacked over 50 miles from the finish.
Tomorrow is best for the girls rather than Sunday.
No idea why. They must be up to something!

Hi, Rusty!
Usually in the last few years, there has been motor racing held at Crystal Palace Park over this Bank Holiday weekend.
You will probably remember telling you all about the racing history.
But this year there have been no signs of this being about to happen...... no workmen in place putting up crash barriers , no stacks of straw brought in to bind round trees....
No publicity either announcing the racing going to happen.....nor apologising for its absence.
I wonder what has happened to stop the event occurring this year?
It had become a popular event, echoing its existence from years ago.
We dog walkers had gotten used to giving the park a wide berth this coming weekend!

Hello, Elle!
I do not like motor car racing.
Far too noisy for me.
It is a beautiful sunset here!
Looks like it will be another fine day tomorrow... I hope!

Hi, Rusty!
I think that the proceeds from the Motor Racing go to designated charities?
So that is an excellent thing.
We always stay away from the park on such occasions, though, as the "danger zones" are obviously closed off ..... and the areas where one can take young children and dogs are thus very restricted.
But no racing event this weekend, so no problem!
We have rain forecast for tomorrow morning, so a poggy walk is likely!
And an all day thunderstorm is prophesied for Sunday!
