Good morning, Elle!
Not so good about your computer!
I know little about them.
I do remember doing a "system restore" to solve a problem.
That involved choosing a date (say 1/11/2017) when it was working properly and setting that date, and the computer would "fix" itself.
My Hudl is the same.
I almost never use it now, since I bought a Chromebook.
Hope you can get your computer working!

Hi, Rusty!
I am just back from my walk
A fine day and not as cold as forecast.
Now, I am not sure if our previous posts may have crossed?
Had you read my explanation of my computer problem when you posted?
Yes, I know of "System Restore"....... it has come to my rescue many a time!
I wonder whether it will work this time.......I need to be careful though, as my daughter said that most of the updates she instigated were necessary to solve the previous computer problems!
I shall try it...I can always reverse it.....
But I shall not know the outcome until late this evening!
What a to-do!
Anyway, how are you today?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I missed your post in crossing! Sorry!
Is your daughter coming to have a look over the weekend?
My only suggestions would be switch it off at the wall plug for several minutes, or system restore.
That is the limit of my computer knowledge.
Updates can cause problems.
I am being collected at 11 by Miss O.
Going to Pine Cone.
I have finished my puzzle.
A good one today.
A couple to parse yet, but that can wait until I return.

Hi, Rusty!
I checked on my option dates for using "Systems Restore" but the only one given would mean my deleting ALL the recent Updates that have been installed .
As the night-time darkening of the screen has not stemmed right back from then, there seems no point in deleting everything, much of which my daughter said that I needed in order to solve previous computer problems.
I shall wait till she has a chance to take a look.
You will probably still be out with Miss Orlando, as I write this.....
I see that the two of you went early enough today to "catch the bacon rolls"!
I am halfway through my puzzle and progressing reasonably well..... a few remaining to parse.....

Hello, Elle,
Been home just before 12.
Place was very busy!
Miss LB was the driver today.
She had a fried egg roll, and Miss O and me had bacon rolls.
It was fine!
Best heed your daughter, Elle, she appears to know what she is at.
How old is your computer?
Maybe old age catching up with it?

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you all had a good time!
You would have been collected promptly, then, if Miss L-B was driving?
I am thinking that the screen darkening is simply due to a time setting; but I just cannot remove it!
As promised by the little on screen notices, when I officially "awoke at 7.30" this morning, the screen was bright again!
I shall leave it to my "In-house" computer expert when she next comes to see us!
I have completed the crossword grid......but there are about eight clues that I have yet to parse fully.
A good puzzle though - some clever clues.
It is pouring down, now!

Hi elle
"Night light" is a feature in the latest update. You can turn it on and off by clicking on Settings (the cog thingy) on the start menu, then clicking on System.

Hello, Chris......
Yes, those are my thoughts, too!
The only problem is that it will not switch off!
I went through the Start. Settings and Display system yesterday!
The slide rule thingy that is meant to adjust the night light feature is missing.....
I am told that if the slide rule is not there, to adjust the brightness by the knobs on the monitor?
But I only have an On/ Off knob on my monitor!
Believe me, I have tried all logical processes!!

Odd - it appeared on mine with the most recent update. There's also a "Change brightness when light level changes" option. Do you have that in Settings>Display?
