Hi, Rusty!
Well, I've made a start on the 15 x15.......so far, so good!
I'll not say too much in case I tempt providence!
The Highlights of the DL in Monaco - I'm assuming this is the one you mean? - are on BBC1 at 1.15pm should you want to watch.......
Is this the one that Laura is aiming for?
I have set the recorder, as we shall go out after lunch to administer food and comfort to daughter's cat!
Speaking of which...daughter , not cat!- she has just texted me to say that they have arrived safely!

Hello, Elle!
Good news from the travellers...well done!
I read about Laura's race, but willn't say anything in case I spoil it!
I have finished my puzzle and it is better than yesterday's, I am pleased to say.
So, "well done, setter!"
I think I have earned me a coffee and slice of Madeira!

Morning, Rusty. I thought you'd enjoy today's Times crossword. Did you like 28 Across?

Sport's tricky in the extreme, requiring practice (5).

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have finished the puzzle , too - albeit a bit slower than you!
I see Mr R is favouring you again!
I find it strange that the Prize puzzle is always the easiest of the week?
Leastways, it is to me!
For some reason, I especially liked 29a !
I have a couple of doubtful parsings.......but will mull them over for a while......
I hate to be beaten!
(You and your Madeira cake....!)

Hello, Elle!
Fame at last!
I wondered if you would get "vlogger"?
I have learned something today.
I always thought that the abbreviation "v" which is often used for "see", meant V for Vatican City.
But I was never comfortable with that, and went exploring.
Today, I went into Chambers, and discovered that "v" is the abbreviation for the Latin word "vide", meaning "see".
So, my mind is content now.
It is good to learn new stuff!
We discussed Twitter and tweets earlier, and today "tweeter" turns up!
Spooky!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah yes, I knew vlogger!
I must have come across it somewhere down the line!
And I recall "Veni, vidi, vici" - " I came , I saw , I conquered" - attributed to Julius Caesar.
Yes, it was weird "tweeter" cropping up after our having talked about Twitter!
I had put an exclamation mark next to the clue, intending to mention it to you - and then forgot to do so!
But I'm having a generally "spooky" day...everything I do/ intend to do/ is pre-empted.....!
Now, I cannot parse "homo sapiens" = "us", in 12d?
Please can you explain it to me?
It is absolutely pouring down with rain!
A deluge!

Hello, Elle!
Chambers has "vide infra" and "vide supra".
See below and see above.
"Tweeter" is really spooky!
Does Mr R read this thread, I wonder?
12, "homo sapiens" is the existing species of humans.
In other words, "us".
It is an anagram of "emphasis on" plus "o" for "love".
Love in tennis is 0.
We have spittery rain up here, and it is windy.

Sorry, Elle!
"Worked" is the anagram indicator for homo sapiens.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I couldn't see there was an anagram!
I understood the definition part (I loved Latin at school!) but had no idea how to explain the rest of the clue!
I feel a dim klutz now!
Never mind...one can't win 'em all!
(An occasional one would be good, though......!)
Now.....there was a question on Eggheads yesterday that I meant to ask you.....
"Which Scottish city means Green Hollow?"
Dundee; Glasgow; or Edinburgh
I knew it...and I am sure that you will, too!
