Horrified at the blatant spoilage in the other thread, spoiling it for many, I hope I can get a just hint, nudge, or a pointer here.

I just cannot see the solution to 24.

Learners - yes, French for life - yes but still cannot put it together.

the whole is a slang word (??US) for a boring place

To put it together - the clue might read (less felicitously):

Of French learners: South of France life accommodates learners.....

.....which gets

Tedious! (as an American teenager might say?)

I thought South was the French word for south(reversed) with 2 learners inside
