As the instructions tell us to write the 'phrase' below the grid, it would be very useful if there was room to write it !

Tell me how did you work out that the phrase was Good-for-Nothing?

I find these fiendish variations very poorly explained!

I searched for the two synonyms and assumed what connection would fit 4-3-7. (Bit of guesswork I suppose)
If there is another feasible solution I'd like to try it.

Thank you, Wombat. I have been without my computer for a couple of days. I had decided it was Orange and Out but I'm sure your explanation is more likely to be correct than mine. Still a nightmare.
