Understand parsing for "propped" (38a), but how does propped mean joined in?

Stuck on 35a, Jane's sister she was never to be believed. Answer is Cassandra, but how does Jane's sister fit in?!

I think it's a semi "&lit" - propped means "joined in the scrum" (rugby)
