48, I think it was a play by Joe Orton also short way of calling a lieutenant like you would say, sarge for sergeant.

53. Is apparently a fruit. Is that an actual fruit or a variety of fruit? Been through all the ten letter fruits I can think of.

53 is a 7 letter fruit with ing on the end.
Still struggling with 37 and 90 despite clues.

90.. Was a thick soled boot worn by greek/roman tragedian actors. Also means a tragedy. It's a word for a playful kiss with a three letter word for family inserted.

Re 53. That was the obvious, first thought of answer but having only seven letters was dismissed. Can't believe you can add 'ing' to it. Must check it out. Thanks though
