Welcome to the forum.

I'm still confused by this (see earlier posts). Didn't Bennett call in "Knype"? Isn't the conurbation simply called "Stoke"?

I will bow to your local knowledge, of course!

You're right. He did refer to the town, Stoke-upon-Trent, as 'Knype'.

The conurbation [it is, officially, a city comprising six towns... and Knypersley - from which Bennett took 'Knype' - is not one of them] is Stoke-on-Trent... usually shortened to Stoke.

The difference between town name and city name was drummed into us at school.
