Agreed - except for 11a - been looking at it for hours and would appreciate a nudge in the right direction. Must have gone wrong somewhere else as I can find nothing that could fit my letters. Thanks

Although I have the undefined solutions, I don't understand the "novel" in the preamble - my answers are the real ones, not the fictional.

Hi rogissimo
That's my point - the answers in the crossword are NOT the ones Arnold Bennett used.

Please Forgive the intrusion of a newcomer to this forum but there is an error in one of the given answers. 10 & 12ac have Stoke on Trent as the answer. But that is the City, not the town. The town itself [and one of Bennett's five] is Stoke-upon-Trent.

I should know, I was born there.
