Is the L correct?

I have two that fit the L - not my first guess for the down one, though!

Think S America not italy for 8d

Lima? Not European though?

Several non-European ones included - hence comments about "random selection".

I put the capital of Togo rather than of Peru at 8d but I don't really see any reason to prefer one to another. I was disappointed with this crossword.

Exactly! Unsatisfactory and lazy crossword, I thought.

i couldn't be bothered to fill in the 4 sides (lazy git) but it was ok for a quick break.

Just wanted to add my harrumph to the general chorus of disapproval at the randomness of the perimeter answers.

Have spent a lot of time trying to find rally routes, established trains routes (eg Orient express), ancient trade routes, and (at a pinch) flight paths for certain journeys, only to be defeated by geographical impossibilities.

I jusr got stuck on 6d, a new word to me. Otherwise a bit less of a challenge than usual.
