Philosopher = (John Stuart) Mill, then anagram of espied.

I'm still far behind on this one. 28d: WW1 enemy destroying British missile launch site. I have o*h*.
My instinct says Ochs but I can't find this enemy and know nothing about the site.
Then let's try 7d. Queen observed king must eat crow.
Got *q****. Help?
15 across. Bad food queen swallows right for dog. T*a****. Can't think of a word for food that helps.

7d. Queen observed king must eat crow.
crow = definition.
observed = saw
enclosing
queen=qu
ends in K for king

t(r)ack + er? although I don't normally associate tack with bad food.

I'll stop trying to think about the other two now.
(I doubt I would have come up with anything useful anyway).
Ginge....you legend.

Chambers gives tack as food in general especially dried and hard but Collins gives it as inferior also so seems ok.

busby mate, I wish my neighbour had a still and was as hospitable when it was full.

I'd heard of "tack" being dry and rather inedible food but couldn't parse the clue.
If you are ever over here I'll introduce you to my neighbour.
You may never make your way back home.
But you will have fun trying :-)
