The only word that seems to fit all the crossers is PISTACHIO !

IS APT anagram, then CH(eck) =chess abbreviation, IO = satellite (of Jupiter? - haven't checked). Occasional component of dishes.

Anagram if is apt + Ch - check + Io satellite (of Jupiter?) - gives pistachio a "dish component?
