Rather slow creeper losing height and nose , bent on biblical ethos , to exhibit before it's too late. (9)

Sorry this is my third attempt, new at this and it's harder than I thought but I'm learning.

What a contest.

The rogue went into an early lead , then samgamgee and ginge drew level . mrw gave a lovely anagram but I didn't see a fair indicator . After these , aristo .thea .ab and ixion made a decision even harder to contemplate , rambler and paul only adding to the agony .
Very decent debuts from truro72 and rose were very welcome , and just when you think you've got a clear winner along comes fieryjack with a couple of belters.

However there can be only one winner and I pass the clueless baton to Les40 for his sublime effort at post 23 .

Your prize , Les (33 years since his passing , where does the time go ?)

Well done Les - great clue (I wonder if BBM2 had spotted the possibility of "E-type" when he set the clue?)

Thanks for the clip, BBM2 - good memories.

Talking of memories, can anyone remember which Shakespeare spoof contains the line "Oh saucy Worcester!"?
