I've been connected for the last hour or so without much mishap and had a chance to look at your clues. Thanks for a brilliant response to this week's word.

With only six votes to go it looks like a race between ixion #22 with four votes and rossim #20 with three but you never know....

Yes, "duffer" usually applies to one inept at golf. NA expression, I guess.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand this clue. How does "pellet" come to be BB? Is RAIT a variation on rett, as in soaking flax until it's rotten so the fibre can be removed (scutched! brilliant word)
