I don't recognise the word you give as an answer to 19d, don't know the answer to 21d, but could 25A be something like Plate Silk? (I have never heard of that, either but imagine it might be a cloth for cleaning gold/silver plate and Plate is a river, ilk means kind in the sense of 'family/class'

I'm thinking maybe 3a is "fancy free" as in single. I don't get the Of/to connection though.
