Good evening everybody,

Well, it's been a week and some of you have finished the grids (I hope) and some haven't.
I am now in receipt of all the wordplay files kindly put together by AB.
I have also put together the five grids with the solutions entered.
I was going to put the solution grids on seperately with each of the seperate wordfiles attached at regular intervals through the next couple of days so that the people that had certain areas of the grids still incomplete could get hints from the crossing Gatekeepers (which I was going to publish first)
But now I feel that the whole thing can be published in seperate files so that you can open whichever you want - to give you help in certain areas if you want to carry on solving parts of the JE.

The order of the files below from top to bottom are:

1. Nom De Plumes

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_wordplay-Nom%20de%20Plumes.pdf

2. The Foreign Legion

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_solution%20The%20Foreign%20Legion.pdf

3. The Unveiled Contingent

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_wordplay-The%20Unveiled%20Contingent.pdf

4. Men of Letters

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_wordplay-Men%20of%20Letters.pdf

5. The Strumpets Boudoir

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_wordplay-The%20Strumpets%27Boudoir.pdf

6. The Gatekeepers

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/May_JE_wordplay%20The%20Gatekeepers.pdf

7. The Completed 'Fiveway' Grid(s)

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18643289/May%202013%20Join%20Effort%20Multi/MAY%202013%20SOLUTION%20GRIDS.pdf

Thanks to all involved with this effort, I hope it was as enjoyable to solve it as it was to produce it.

Please feel free to add plaudits of encouragement to your favourite clues and setters from the various grids.

Roll on June!

Cheers all, Les40.

I feel you'll appreciate 14a in TUC,
7d in TSB is a musical theme which I didn't know when Rosalind sent it in, very clever.

A gargantuan task, Les and AB! Thanks so much. Got them all, and the whole thing was a blast. The pages are star-studded; I'll really have to do some culling before posting favorites.

Thanks Les and AB. What a task, and so clearly set out. I like the way I can check each section separately. NDP was the only grid I finished completely ( and got it right! ). I will check the others through carefully when I have a bit more time. All the effort put in warrants it.
Are we are having another of these jumbos for the second Bank Holiday? ONLY JOKING!

Morning

Like Rossim Nom De Plumes is the only one I have completed but I must be honest a little guesswork helped so its great to see the parsing. The Unveiled Contingent and Men of Letters are my least successful. On checking the parsing though I am obviously still learning. I had about 3/4 of the Gatekeepers.

Anyway that aside a big thank you to Les and AB for all the hard work and fun. :)

Wow, how brilliant are some of those. And what a huge amount of work. thanks AB and Les.

I had better 'fess up and say 7d of the Boudoir was based on the expression "one over the eight" (pints)meaning drunk, a state encouraged in bars. Wish I had thought of the musical angle as at one time had musicians in the family who discussed the finer points of Bach interpretation over the dinner table!
