I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

3. Remedial application of (hot) sand – another treatment to anoint ear (9)

4. Weapon unearthed in Simla? This is quite likely (5)

5. Orders to shoot? (6,6,6)

Good Day Jolan, hope you are well. Have just looked in at lunch and have got #4 straight away, I also think I have #2 (my parsing makes sense but I'm not sure of the def). Will try to figure out the rest and hopefully post later.

Just had a quick check in Chambers - definitely got #2. Will go and lie down in a darkened room for a while:)

I think I've got all 5 of today's & hope to be back later to check. The punctuation in #1 makes me a tad uncertain of my answer though.
