Good Evening, All. Well done Mondrian for starting us off this week. I spent much of Tuesday bemoanng the fact that postmen and postladies get holidays. Why not just pay them triple time, and let them deliver our Radio Times as normal.

I did my crossword sitting in the car park at Braehead today, having taken my grand daughter to meet one of her friends, then being embarrassed by assuming the chap to be in sixth form, to discover that he was actually her friend's dad. Even the policemen look young these days.

Anyway, it was a nice cosy spot to fill in the squares. 23 across confused me for a while, then I couldn't remember how to spell the answer, but a quick phone call to Mrs P sorted it out.

Hope all are well, and enjoying spring.

Best wishes.

P

Raymond - my brother-in-law is very proud of his `debenture` for the Millennium Stadium and will travel anywhere to watch wales play. My grandson started in under- six (or seven) games. If the won, they had to play again. How often I`ve stood, feet freezing to the ground, wishing they`d lose so we could go off to the warm pub for lunch.... Magw.

All but finished, however 5D is still outstanding *a*o "Henry? Ring, ring" - its always the short words that give me problems. Appreciate a further clue - Henry who ?

Hi Devonian
Henry VIII nickname Hal + O(ring) = Halo (ring)
I can't think how to give hints, so hope no one minds me giving you the answer. It is now snowing here !

Thanks Jazzgirl - hope the snow doesn't settle. We have only had a light dusting a couple of Sundays ago, but we face the east wind coming straight off the sea - roll on summer

Jazzgirl, thanks for your earlier nudges, exactly what I needed. I'm also pleased to see you are encouraging bees. Local honey is good for you, especially if we ever get warm enough for hay fever. Re 23A - I thought this was an English language puzzle! Any news of Wee Jock? As for watching wales - yes, best done from a boat in cold deep water!

Hello Pastille. Just in case you pop in again, thanks for the suggestion for the Munchin Bier Raddish. I have never heard of it but may give it a try if my current seeds fail to germinate, yet again. I think we are promised warmer weather next week so the seeds will go in whether they like it or not!!!

Meanwhile back to crossword. Am stuck on

4D Play with those toasted.
16A Old country played another country
23A Chinese principle etc etc

I have some letters and having just managed to get 8A with the help of Quick Solve giving me the name of a shark which I had never heard of, this may help with 4D. Meantime any other help appreciated.

For 23 A, I have the irish leader. It starts with a Chinese religion, I think. I could be wrong!
