Could someone please give me some help with
24. An uncommissioned soldier is held outside in the province (7)
I know I have asked before but I am still struggling with it.
haeremai18 - No1 is anag + greek word - an EA river. In 16 you missed out the vital word in clue "arrived" - another word for and you are right about L. Like winnie still struggling with 24 - must be orinoco but why, or am I completely up the creak
Thanks diday, got it but I so wanted it to be orinoco! Look forward to hearing from you all with the real quiz later in the year.
By the way EA is not east africa, much nearer home.
My thanks as well diday for clue to 24. I have it now. I too was stuck on orinoco, like bazza.
I have finished this quiz now, my thanks to everyone and we will all meet up again for the next 'stinker !' xx
My mind doesn't seem to work very well with the clues although with help so far, have managed to solve some of they. However still stuck on no.1 despite clues about an anagram/Greek letter = EA(?) river. No 6 starting Independent Bishop; no. 10 plaingirl in Virginia etc; no.11 but in Paris etc and finally no. 12 which I know is an anagram. Still can't solve these. Can I please ask for help again - thanks.
