I think I've finished, but I don't understand 16dn (and fiftennsquared blog hasn't appeared yet)
Succeeded in becoming editor, did well (9)
?R?S?E?E?
I've put PROSPERED - fits the definition and "ED" is there, but I don't see the rest.

btw the way it's a very clever crossword, well worth a look, available free online at
http://www.guardian.co.uk/crosswords
(I admit that I didn't see the real cleverness until I had finished!)

succeeded or s in Proper (becoming + ed

Makes Pro(s)per ed

Yes what a brilliant crossword I twigged about 2/3 of the way through.

Thanks djawhufc
"Proper ed" = "becoming editor" I suppose.

Yes I think we agree, though we have phrased it slightly differently.

I hope some other people will look at this thread and follow the link to the crossword - it really is a gem!

Yes Chris it is excellent. I thought yesterday's was very good too.

I enjoyed yesterday's, but there some that I had no idea how to parse, even when correctly solved! Even the explanations on fifteensquared were not totally convincing - incidentally, did you see that Shed contributed to the blog, and admitted that one of the respondent's parsing of KEEL was better than what he had in mind!

I did- that is one of the good things about 15 squared- the setters often pop on.

Belated thanks for the enthusiastic tip, chris: eventually got round to taking a look at it, and Brendan's history of ingenious structuring almost inspired me to look up some of his best as quoted on 15 Squared (am gradually getting into setting puzzles myself, but nothing like that standard of course). A change from the series of rather grotty Guardian efforts a few weeks ago that made me give them a break for a time -- except Sat. of course!

I'm pleased you enjoyed it, GK.
P.S. I only spotted the triple anagrams after I had finished it!
