Hi djawhufc
Finished, but don't understand 7dn Animal ending in both two corners (8) H?D?E?O?
Only one possible answer I can see, but can't parse it.
Also 14ac: 1 down + C = pillow talk (7,5)
I see the C and the pillow talk, but can't see how 1 down gives the first word (and first letter of the second)
Any explanation, please?

Thanks for that, djawhufc
"Hog" for "corner" as in "corner the market"?
"Bottom" for "bed" as in "sea bed"?
Should have seen "x" for "times", though!

I gave + instead of X anyway - must put my specs on.
Thanks for the suggestion about the Spectator, but I am not keen on the types where you have to do something with your answers (or clues) before entering them.

@chrise: Spec. is relatively easy today, nothing has to be changed, theme apparent quite early -- have a go! It's also freely available now again on spectator.co.uk/life/crossword
Good luck!
