This puzzle is driving me up the wall. Three clues left plus the anagram and the quotation. Unfortunately two of the three clues I have left contain letters for the anagram (14a and 15d - otherwise I have got it all hopelessly wrong). If the operative word for 14a is the first word, then I have an answer but cannot parse it... It would fit my only guess for 15d but again, I cannot parse it so do not what letters goes into the anagram. As for the quotation, oh well...

yes pink is the defn in 14a- the misprint is More, should be Core (core-middle letter of floyd + (w)aters + e(drug) then anagram it. I expect you have it by now
15d misprint is tip off, should be Rip off (rob in the middle of the answer)
For the quote think "groucho"

Thanks for that - I had them both correct but couldn't get why. Now for the anagram and the quotation... I assumed groucho but still can't find anything. If at first...

I now have all the clues and the quotation and can fit them in the grid - but still cannot work out the anagram...

Now I have the anagram and can't see that it adds anything... What am I missing?

You're not missing anything! - the anagram merely tells you that you need all correct if you are to win the prize!

Hi all.

I have 4D, but can't parse it. Definition is OK. Can't see "sounds like I'll". Words like "isle", "aisle", come to mind but can't see it.

I have 5D, but can't really see how or why 4D runs into 5D via the ellipsis.

4dn - note name of compiler. I share your misgivings about 5dn. Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't look very cryptic.

When I started this I assumed that the quotation was by Groucho Marx and searched for an appropriate 16 word quote, without success. Since then I've solved all the clues (except 24) and made several more searches. Either I'm seeing, but not recognising the quote, or I'm searching in the wrong places.

I've never thought Groucho Marx funny and if I have to read one more of his witticisms I'lll be sick. Someone please put me out of my misery.

(The only searchable word I thought might be in the perimeter was 'smoke' but that was no help.)
