I have two answers ixion, here goes

1)Chart - Chart can meanto list or WINDOW
s(H)opping - take away Sopping (wet) that blankets the 'H' / going into CART - is this classed as the greasy spoon, can't find a def for it?

2) Chafe - again the 'H' going into Cafe (greasy spoon) but can't find a Def for WINDOW with Chafe

It's CHAFF - the window was strips of aluminium dropped to confuse radar.

The wordplay does refer to that ChrisE and leads to the two word answer requiring a slight adjustment.
