18A is SPONGEBAG =anag. of BAGS GONE together with P = "checked" in Chambers.

34A could be one, in the Knightish theme, but along with 17A it could be a more doggy theme, just a gentle hint as to these 6 theme words would be much appreciated.

I make 25ac (before misprints) CABALLE, but not sure of the wordplay.

It's definitely a knightish theme as CAVALIER, CABALLO, CAVALLO and SPRINGER are all foreign words for 'knight', but I'm struggling to find any more. LOVAG is Hungarian for knight but I have LOVATS for 27d and can't see a way of a G being the misprint here.
