Hi, Raymond.

The tax is VAT, the hole is PORE and the word TO at the end, so we get

VA PORE T TO. Pore inside VAT plus the to.

It seems that a vaporetto is a canal boat.

Hi Raymond Bore Da! I love `twp` - there is no exact equivalent in English. I also like `daps` for plimsoll. ¬ `She walks like a duck in daps` - so expressive. mags.

Thank you SO much R.Timers..! Have only just checked your messages, have been enjoying some sunshine.! Eyes closed, feet up in t'garden..BLISS. A big CWICH to you all from this 80 year old great-granny. I'm so glad I found some kindred 'Spirits'. The old fella (sprightly 81 year old) isn't interested in my cryptic-passion.! After almost 60 years I don't think I'll be able to change him. Mags and Jazzgirl, pleased you appreciate the good old Welsh expressions. I don't speak the language sadly, but I can sing the anthem with gusto.! All the lovely hymns too, but I've no idea what the words mean. ! I've only recently realised that 'Calon Lan' (lovely tune.!) means pure heart.!As children we sang 'God Bless the Prince of Wales'..I understand the old Duke of Windsor hated it.! There's a line in that which I assumed to be 'Let the prairie echo'..even as a little 'un I couldn't fathom where we had praries in Wales..! It's only since Charles took over the title and I actually read the verse that I now know it to be 'Let the prayer re-echo'..! Educated at last.! Goodness this is a long response.hope I've not bored you.! NOW I can relax this evening..Vaporetto indeed..MUST be a new compiler who doesn't like the Welsh. Thank you ALL..will 'see you soon'..Bore da..(Daps in Ducks..ah I remember it well..!) By the way, we've lived in England for 50 years, I can now use Midland expressions too..anyone heard of the word 'Mardy'..? That really flummoxed me..thought is was a very serious illness.! :>
