Contemporary with each other, not us. They're not both Georges, as one must start with J.

Thanks ChrisE & sudokulover - for reasons not best explored further I thought I was looking for two composers both with the initials G J... Given the nature of this crossword, that can at best be described as somewhat witless...

Completely stuck on L - 'smasher, diluted, is smashed'. Have all the interlocking letters, but no possible solution. Any guidance greatly appreciated. Thanks.
