I still find it a pretty wonky clue in an otherwise easy puzzle, but thank you all anyway.

could be earth = the blue (planet) + the Y as already explained.

Speaking of poor clues, can someone please explain the wordplay on 9 across of ST4466 to me?

The clue is "Imagine foodie dropping starter without teaspoon (7)" P.C.U.E and I presume the answer is "Picture" (meaning "imagine"), but cannot understand the wordplay at all.

Foodie = epicure - drop the e (starter)= picure
around (t)easpoon (t)
