I see you guys are at a loose end. Give this some thought.

Imagine you are in a bathub checking to see how much weight your toy duck can carry before it sinks. You place a heavy metal ring on the duck, and it does not sink. Then the ring slips off and falls to the bottom of the tub.

When the ring falls, what, if anything happens to the water level in the tub?

please give BRIEF explanation of your answer.

Will give this some thought while I'm weeding.

I am a bit concerned though,as this seems like a horrid abuse of rubber duckies.

Is this another little indiscretion to add to your other "supposed" crimes i.e. babies?...Lady Di? Remember?

Is this heavy metal ring a skull ring?

when you pick up the heavy metal ring your weight will increase and the water displacement will be greater ie it will rise. The ring falling to the bottom of the tub will still be displacing the same amount of water. In other words the water level remains the same as when you first picked up the ring. Just a guess and probably wrong !

Terry, are you trying to come up with a plausible explanation for whatever it was you were caught doing in the bath?

Bullfrog,

Oh dear. I was never there. But if you can prove I was, I didn't do it. And if you prove I did, it must of been somebody else. Who looks a bit like me.

P.S. Pastille, my last post was in reply to your post no 79, not the one about ruining the experiment. I'm still trying to think of a cunning plan for the duck dilemma
