Good evening all,
Caravaggio - fancy not picking 3D straight away, particularly with your family history!
Liked 15D, 19A & 13D. With 14A bringing back memories of what I consider to be one of the best American police series to grace our screens.
Regards,
NIMROD

Haven't got the RT yet, so mustn't look too hard at all your extra clues.
Hello to Old Gal - sorry that the op was postponed and that you have to undergo treatment. Hope all goes well when it is all underway and that you keep your pecker up.xx

Yes it took me much longer than usual to get started this week. I'd never heard of a either.

Anyway, all done, except that I'm stuck on 1d and 12a (first word of), for which the usual subtle hints would be appreciated. Thanks all.

"I'd never heard of a either."

That was meant to be "I'd never heard of a 3d either." I originally put the 3d in angle brackets and the site stripped it out, thinking it was a superfluous html tag, presumably...

Re 1d If you have a lot of 'go' in you your said to have a lot of ------. Remove the last letter (endless in the clue). The last 4 letters means to name in the 'quote' sense rather than the name of a person - written backwards.

Re 12a (first word of)plates you need to display as a novice?

Hi Andy Pandy.Another clue for 1d:
"Entice Reg so strenuously active"

The motorist in 12a has the plates on the
front and back of his car.
Regards...Navigator.

Thank you all for enlightening me about the famous Liverpudlian. Of course it is she who hosted the much-watched `Bl... D..e` of several years ago. How could I not have figured that out for myself? I often seem to fail when things are back to front!

Nimrod. I recently read one of your postings in last weeks thread when you drew my attention to the fact that my nom de plume was the answer in one of the DT crosswords. That is nice to know we are both getting some publicity!!

Karen hope you have recovered from your hospital stay. Old gal you are much in my thoughts - you`ve still got lots of walks to do in Warwickshire and lots of quilts to make!!

Thank you, Crypto and Navigator, all done now. I always find it interesting that others sometimes struggle with clues that are among the first that I solve, and vice versa.

This week 7a was my first. 22a I thought a bit weird, although perfectly straightforward at another level. 19a (which went in quite early) is my favourite this week, FWIW.

Cheers all, A-P.

One wonders where you were last week, Caravaggio that you could not get a signal for the computer. Were you climbing a mountain or sailing the seven seas? Wherever it was hope you had a good holiday. Also why would anyone say `shame on you` for your father being a C of E reader for 35 years and thus knowing the other expression for a hypocrite? You do generally seem to have very fond memories of your father, if I may say so, and that is very nice.
