I got most of this weeks finished with the usual struggle but am stumped on 6D and 18D. I have filled in 19A but do not understand the clue except for the `bumped into` bit meaning `met` and the whole thing being something shiny. What or who is the famous Liverpudlian?

re 6 down - the answer is an instrument used
for beating e.g. corn from the wheat and with
the letter L from lake put into it.
Still struggling with others.

The famous person is a female Liverpudlian and "turned" is another way of indicating "backwards"
