Grid complete but unsure of 12a wordplay - I understand railroad to be the defn but can't see the rest??
Could someone put me out of my misery?

It's one of the theme words. First 2 letters = travel; next 2 Spain and the last 2 are an American railroad.

Thanks AJT - I had that previously but dismissed it. I see how it fits the theme now.

12ac Railroad is not the definition - this is one of the 6 pairs and so is undefined.
The last 2 letters 'EL' refer to the elevated railways in USA; they are known as 'Ls'.

Afternoon all - completely forgot about this crossword until I saw the 2 threads on here today. A pleasurable afternoon spent on it. Some very nice clues!
