Can anyone help please?
Confused by 5d:
'In Milan flee ground' (9, 2 words).
Looks like anagram of 'Milan flee' (en famille) but puzzled by mixture of French phrase/Italian city ???
Many thanks.

Hi Beth,
You are right it is an anagram of "in Milan flee"
I put in EN FAMILLE.

Hi Beth,

Yes, you're quite right - it is en famille [I 'tested' the anagram]. One of the definitions of en famille is 'at home' ergo 'In'. The use of the word 'ground' is in the context of 'ground up'.

Whilst I appreciate you've experienced some confusion over the mixture of Italian and French, the word 'Milan' is only used to facilitate the construct of the clue.

Kind regards,

Caravaggio

Thanks everyone.
Yes, I keep forgetting every tiny word has significance in Mephisto and hadn't latched on that the answer was a synonym for 'in' and that 'Milan' was a 'red herring'!
I love this site!
