the answer you need is Winter - as in Midwinter and Winter mixture

can't see any of the answers given have much to do with Christmas

As the setter I do ask for clues not to be requested until after a certain date, this is made clear before the quiz is purchased so why send for it if you feel not enough time has been allowed and it has not been advertised as a christmas quiz nor have I said the words are all associated with Christmas merely the season.
