Thanks to all for the explanation of 6d. Everyman's use of 'parallel' still seems highly tenuous to me, but I'm sure Brendan's interpretation is correct.
Also don't understand why Everyman feels 17a is unhealthy. It's a lot better than the alternatives!
Nevertheless some cracking clues this week, including my COD, the gorgeous 27a.
Incidentally, for those who fancy another challenge, Carpathian's Quiptic is a doozy this week.

Definitely at the tougher end of the scale, as is the Quiptic.

Surprisingly, I have no idea what’s going on in this.

The only clues I can solve are: 12a, 23a, 3d and 4d.

Can I please ask for guidance on 1a, 13a and 27a? Just to get some letters on the board!

Hi Druh, don't be too disheartened, this week's puzzle is very tricky.

1a - "choppers" as in 'teeth' - definition is what you'd want to be if you were going into battle.

13a - 3 letter "evil" + 2 letter "doctor" + 3 letter "tattoo" + first 3 letters/'most of "infants" = 3 letter "covering" (you wear it) - definition is "bottoms up"

Sorry, messed up the last bit of 13a, should have read...

... first 3 letters/'most of 4 letter "infants" + 3 letter "covering"

Thank you for the hints.

1a remains impenetrable despite me thinking the first letter is A?

The 3 letters at the end of 13a…HAT, CAP make no sense.

Druh re 27a, think about where is Douglas the place? Answer is a famous quote from a poem. This one was tricky, I started it, slept then returned. Happy Easter!

Druh, if you're still struggling with 13a, then it might help to know that the first 3 letters (which are a homophone for evil, from the clue) actually read as an abbreviation of one's intention to do something, ie, it's two words, shortened with an apostrophe between the first and second letter.

Also, the 3-letter word for infant has it's final letter as the first letter of the last word. So you were on the right track with HAT.

Let us know how you are getting on!

I agree that this was much more challenging than usual, but overall as satisfying solve. Took a while for the penny to drop on both 2d and 27a (after getting the answers I mean), but they are my joint CODs.

Still not sure about 6d as a clue; the 'parallel' part seems a bit iffy to me.

I also have an issue with the definition of 17a. It's NOT unhealthy - quite the opposite! I wonder if it was a misprint?

I agree with others about the use of the word offer in 2d. Surely 'give' would have made more sense?
