Hmmm … ami missing something, or is the ‘correct’ solution of 26 a mistake?

According to 15^2, the correct answer has now been changed to EGG in the interactive version of the puzzle

Interesting. So that's what all last night's fuss on the Guardian site was about.
Many people claimed "26 was wrong", while many others, including me, saw nothing wrong with it, assuming the extremely obvious solution to be EGG. Like me, the latter group must not have "checked" that solution. 🤣
