I found this much easier than the last few puzzles!

I never do First One In, Last One In or Clue of the Day in any puzzle- but each to their own...

I thought it was a bit tricky this week, but got there in the end, I think.

Please may I have help parsing
18d "I'd missed, say, Putin's awards" P?E?E?T?
I can see P and S from "Putin's"
and RE-SENT (as in sent again) inside to make PRESENTS=awards
but does having sent again really equate to "I'd missed"?

I think it might be I'D missed from PRESIDENT

"Wanting" = without, missing etc.
