Hello all, can anyone help? I'm stuck on 55 across, " I note golf might be derived from this kids game?"
I have piggy in the middle as the answer but just can't see why. Kept leaving it and coming back to it hoping inspiration would strike, but no☹️

It's a bit feeble, but G for golf (NATO alphabet) is in the middle of piGgy?

Cryptically, the middle letter piGgy is g for golf.

I’m sure that’s correct. The middle of piggy is i g g , which can also be represented as I, note (G in the tonic sol-fa), G (Golf in NATO alphabet). That’s all there is to it

So it’s the inside three letters of piggy, not just the middle one, in my reading

Thanks quisling, I wondered what “I note” was doing, prefer your explanation.
