I have figured out what to highlight in this puzzle, but need help with 2 clues....both inevitably 4 letters and crossing.

Hi Fred

I think a in along is the extra letter in the first clue, and o in cello extra in the second one.

First one has an alternative Scottish spelling of “die”.

Second one has a homophone of “site”, often seen at the end of words meaning cell

An odd solve for me. I rattled through the RHS in about twenty minutes, but the rest required a little bludgeoning, in all about another hour or so. Enjoyable puzzle, for which thanks to Skylark.
