26a Adult expressed hint of exasperation (5)
I went with Adult as the clue; so used W. Turns out they wanted A. Is there any way of knowing this? Or is it just a poor clue?

Described elsewhere as “coin toss territory” which I think sums it up!

The Crossword Editor posted the following on the Times blog, so it’s confirmed as a poor clue.

“ Many apologies for the ambiguity in 26 across, something I really should have picked up. We will be updating the clue to remove the ambiguity.”

There’s also a clue in the Guardian today which appears to have two equally valid answers and has been commented on elsewhere.

Is that "Announced change for place of wedding (5)"? For me that's clearly ALTAR, because of the word order. No doubt others will disagree

Ahh, you must mean "Two novices go to ski here (5)". I would incline to the English spelling with the Y, but I agree it's ambiguous

Sorry, yes, I should have given the clue, it was the ski location.

I see in the Times app yesterday’s clue now reads…
