Hello, fellow-cruciverbalists. Please can any of you explain this?

31d: Experienced organisation promoting peace leaves river (7)

I have D?R?E?T, and I don't think any of those letters are wrong. One possible answer is DERWENT (= river), but if that's correct, how does the rest of the parsing work?

UN leaves UNDERWENT

(un)DERWENT = experienced (as a verb)

The UN< United Nations, promotes peace - so take that away from Underwent, experienced. Yes, Derwent is the river.

5d shrewd childminder's beginning to change (5) it seems as though the answer is canny,ie shrewd. I can see the c is the first letter of childminder but don't understand the rest

I think it’s just nanny where n changes to c
