I found many of this week's clues quite elliptical. Three that still bother me are:

2D Love note is rubbish? Don't start that! (5)
D _ C _ S

26D The present is so non-U, one admitted (4)
_ _ _ S

27A Bow man has no use for this long tie (5)
_ _ T _ H

(NB The first letter of 27A is the second of 26D)

I believe the answers are:
DUCKS
THIS
HITCH

But quite why I'm not 100% sure. Any suggestions?

First two appear correct…

D (note) + (s)UCKS

THUS (so) I replaces U

I had spotted the the THUS / THIS link but hadn't seen SUCKS at all!

Any thoughts about how HITCH works?
