I struggled with that too. It's rather tenuous!

I'm having difficulty parsing this one:

47D Suffer supporting live act. (6)

_ E _ A _ E

I'm thinking BEHAVE but am unsure why. Can someone clarify?

Suffer = HAVE (as in "I have a cold"). Can't say I was very impressed with that!
Supporting = beneath (this being a down clue)
Live (to rhyme with "give") = BE

Behave = act

Hope that makes sense!

The Merriam Webster dictionary, website, listed 'have' as a synonym for 'suffer'. I looked only because I didn't much like it myself!

Thank you both. I half guessed it worked like that... but as with Malone, didn't like it much!
